Pelirroja Goodnight Girl - 'Fig'

Just born
1 hour old
2 days old

Fig (or Figgy Pudding, as she is now known) is Roxy's daughter from her third litter.

Fig was one of 4 puppies, all of which were absolutely beautiful.

We chose to return to the same Sire that we had used to produce Roxy's second litter, Cosmo, Emily and Big Red, as all three had turned out to be so lovely in everyway and I wanted to repeat this if possible. As I am personally drawn to Reds, more so than any other colour within Dachshunds, as soon as Fig was born my heart melted - It was love at first sight! I knew straight away that she was the one I wanted to keep, and after watching the litter develop and grow, at 8 weeks I was thrilled to learn that Fig was the 'pick of litter'.

A truly gentle, loving little girl, she has brought a huge amount of happiness and fun to our home and is very, very special, for a number of reasons. I had always hoped that one day, I would have another daughter from Roxy to keep as our own, after having lost her first daughter, Winny. Having also lost my Dad in June 2015, this litter really helped me during a very difficult time. In my Dad's memory, I chose to give the puppies their Kennel Club names after my Dad's favourite songs.

The day I registered the litter online will forever be a vivid memory. After a few weeks of mulling names over, I had finally settled on the four I wanted, so had sat down at my computer and loaded up the website and registration page. I began to enter the pups details and straight away an alert flashed up to tell me that the name I had picked for Fig wasn't available. I was so disappointed as I had my heart set on it, however I did have a back up, but as I didnt think I would ever need to use it, I suddenly wasnt 100 percent sure it was 'right'. As I sat deliberating, I noted that the song on the radio was coming to an end, and I recall thinking "Maybe I'll let fate play a part? If the next song is one of Dads favourites, I shall name her that".

The new song began, and within the first few chords I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Of all the songs that could have been played at that exact time, the one being played was the 'back up name' I had chosen for her! My uncertainty disappeared - my original choice clearly wasnt meant to be, and her name was chosen.
